One common misperception that we frequently come across among our users is the belief that it is necessary to submit a DMCA request for the removal of an image from our search results. We're here to set the record straight: You do not need to go through the DMCA request process to remove your image from PimEyes search results.

PimEyes does not host any of your content. PimEyes functions solely as a search engine, showing matching indexes found on external websites. Like any other search engine, such as Google, Bing, etc., PimEyes assists users in accessing information that is available online from already accessible sources. PimEyes searches only those websites that officially allow data scraping and never searches for social media or other user-restricted online sources.

So, if you wish to remove your image from PimEyes search results, you have two choices: opt-out and manual exclusion. Please note that the removal from PimEyes search results does not mean that these images will be removed from the original websites where the images were found.

First, let's talk about the Opt-Out option. This feature is free of charge, and it will permanently remove your likeness from both current and future searches. You'll only need to provide any government-issued ID (ID, Passport, Driving License) with sensitive details hidden, so that only your photo is visible. We don't need any of your personal information; we just want to confirm that the person making the opt-out request is real and it’s you. Please note that images can have different index combinations, so sometimes it's a good idea to request removal several times using the image that shows your search results.

To perform and Opt-Out, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the opt-out page
  • Upload a clear photo of your face.
  • Upload an anonymized scan of your any government issued ID for identity confirmation - we do not store images of these documents. They are permanently removed after the opt-out process is over.
  • provide the email address so we can contact you regarding your opt-out request.

Second option is manual exclusion. This way you can separately image by image manually request the removal of that image from our system.

  • Select the image directly from the search results.
  • Proceed by selecting “exclude from public results”;
  • Indicate the reason for removal. The image will be permanently deleted from PimEyes within 48 hours after your request is approved.

Both of these options are available for every user, irrespective of whether they are premium subscribers or not.
